Chinese Translation of A Plucky Girl by L. T. Meade
This translation aims at providing a deep second language teaching tool, as well as researching material for the translator and learning base for the students majoring in English language in China. The story relates the adventures of a young woman in England in 1900s, who later runs a boarding house. The story relates a love story and a positive attitude towards life hardships.
A PLUCKY GIRL, was written by L.T. Meade, the pseudonym of Elizabeth Thomasina Meade Smith (1844–1914). Meade was a prolific British novelist at the end of the 19th century, noted for writing women's stories. She started writing at the age of 17 and created more than 300 books. Her most famous book was A World of Girls, published in 1886. She was also the editor of Atalanta, a popular women's magazine in that era. A PLUCKY GIRL was one of the books about “girls” written by her.
Dr. Guiyu LIAO was born in Guilin, Guangxi China, in 1976. She received her Doctor’s degree from HELP University, Malaysia. Now, she works as an English teacher in College of Foreign Studies, Guilin University of Electronic Technology. Her research interests include English education, business English and Cross cultural communication.
